Wayfinding in a healthcare facility is always a challenge. Signage is vital, and developing signage that integrates with the architecture and interior design helps create a healing environment for patients. At the Fountain Valley Regional Medical Center, SKA Design worked closely with the design team to develop bright and colorful signs to help patients and visitors navigate their way through a labyrinth of corridors and spaces. Color-coding was used to identify departments and to provide a visual accent to the white sign panels. Signage was designed to accommodate three languages. Oversize building directories and You-Are-Here maps were located at all major decision points to help with wayfinding.
