Role: Sub-consultant to Perkins+Will
Completed: 2008
With friends of former President Ronald Reagan fulfilling a pledge to donate $150 million for construction of the replacement hospital, this project was born in the public eye and its completion was regarded with anticipation. The donor benevolence became a major piece of the design program and SKA was engaged to prepare a comprehensive donor recognition system. The system encompassed a major donor wall, dimensional letters for area identification, wall plaques and freestanding garden pylons. SKA collaborated with the design team to incorporate complementary materials and colors, such as frosted panels, stainless accents and a simple typeface, that are flattering to the interior vernacular. Stainless steel dimensional letters are backed by green acrylic to project an elegantly contemporary interpretation of a traditional donor element.
