The community of San Pedro neighbors the busy Port of Los Angeles, and a bustling downtown vicinity offers mixed shopping, dining, art and entertainment options within a few steps of the waterfront. Investments in adjacent port properties signaled a potential boon to community leaders who devoted resources to enhance this downtown area.
SKA was enlisted to help delineate clear pedestrian pathways that connect visitors to area attractions, businesses, transit facilities, municipal centers, and parking areas. To this end, trailblazer, vehicular and pedestrian directional, and custom street signs were employed. SKA developed an identification icon evocative of the seaside surroundings to distinguish the district. This image is also showcased on pole-mounted street banners, and all signs are accented with curved metal scrollwork.
