Paseo Colorado was once an outmoded indoor mall. Following a change of management, a team of experts was secured to revitalize the property, and SKA was brought in as the signage expert for this effort.
The new configuration transformed the 14.9-acre site into an upscale outdoor mall, covering three city blocks with shops, restaurants, a movie theater, office space and loft-style condominiums. A central courtyard filled with market-style kiosks, seating areas and water features sits at the core and, from here pedestrian pathways radiate to the more than 550,000 square feet of tenants.
The architectural style reflects Pasadena’s prevalent Craftsman style by featuring inlaid mosaic tile displays, window framing, rich colors and traditional materials. The sign program supports the design theme by utilizing custom fabricated panel and trellis frames, cast bronze identification plaques, water-jet cut paving tiles and movable advertising/directory kiosks.
