Role: Prime Consultant to The Ratkovich Company
Size: 45 acres
Completed: 2006
Under a multi-phased development plan, an underutilized site in the heart of Alhambra was transformed into a vibrant urban community, bustling with restaurants, retail stores, housing, schools, 20-building office complex, and parking facilities. The 45-acre development spans a busy thoroughfare and a pedestrian bridge provides connectivity from one side to the other.
The office core contains a collection of original brick buildings that are historically protected. SKA developed branding identification for the entire project site, and closely collaborated with regulatory agencies to create a comprehensive signage program with historical integrity in a modern context. The program includes primary project identification, vehicular and pedestrian directional, parking area signs, you-are-here directories, building address, and all non-tenant code-required signs. SKA also developed a striking identification sign for the pedestrian bridge, which extends a friendly welcome on behalf of the community.
