SKA worked in tandem with an interior designer to improve the leasing appeal of this mid-century modern office building located in Pasadena’s busy South Lake Avenue district. Attention was first turned to the building façade, where a playful exterior treatment of corrugated metal panels in variable colors was placed asymmetrically on the tower’s bottom third. SKA’s exterior building identification integrates seamlessly into the treatment.
The building contains eight levels in total, comprised of four subterranean parking levels and ground level retail topped by three levels of office suites. Wall graphics in the underground parking levels mimic the façade pattern in a lively color palette. The lobby is also updated with this bold palette and accented by prominent identification signing. Wayfinding, identification and code-required signs carry the design theme throughout interior corridors and public areas. SKA also provided the developer with tenant signage criteria to guide implementation of retail and office tenant build-outs.
