Yucaipa, California

Role: Sub-consultant to Steinberg Architects
Size: 513 acres
Completed: 2010

Through Measure M funding, SKA supported the team in providing capital improvements for this impeccable campus through the following contracts:

Campus Signage Program
SKA mapped out a long-range, campus-wide signage program of wayfinding, identification and code signs with a design emphasis on sustainability. The plan identified ways to utilize local materials and incorporate green technologies, while supporting the campus brand and design vernacular.

Learning Resource Center (LRC)
The three-story, 58,500 square foot LRC provides a central location for the library, learning center, faculty teaching center, and campus data center. It also houses a gallery, 100-seat auditorium, and multipurpose room for campus events. The hillside location connects with the ambient landscape, and is further pronounced by glass-encased lounges centered about an outdoor plaza.

SKA developed a comprehensive sign program that emulates the retro mid-century modern architecture. Sign designs are flexible and changeable to accommodate a highly dynamic environment. The program also includes a feature wall super-graphic to showcase significant writers.

Community Recreation Center
SKA provided planning and documentation services for vehicular directional, project identification, building address, and all interior signs for this new 5,700 square foot facility that contains a pool, pool deck, swimming support building and parking areas.
