Role: Prime Consultant (Standards) and Sub-consultant to Meyer & Allen Associates (Individual Shelters)
Completed: 2005
The Department of Animal Care & Control manages six facilities that provide services related to animal welfare. Their programs, equipment, and facility repairs and improvements are funded by the Animal Care Foundation, which launched a major capital improvement campaign and retained SKA to prepare Signage Design Standards. SKA produced a document that defines guidelines for sign usage, placement, form, materials and construction methods. The manual contains a menu of acceptable sign types along with design drawings of individual signs. The approved design solution incorporates playful animal silhouettes in a variety of poses, combinations and colors.
Under subsequent contracts, SKA was commissioned to implement individual sign programs for the Northeast Valley, West Los Angeles, and West Valley shelters based on these criteria.
